the fact that twogami could SEE that someone was moving under the floorboards and aiming for komaeda with a sharp object but pushed komaeda away and took the hit himself

the fact that even after twogami caught komaeda explicitly violating the rules of his party but not only having a weapon but enacting a murder plan with that weapon he STILL pushed him out of the way 

the fact that twogami has a past history with not trusting absolutely anyone because opening up to them would likely reveal that he was an imposter and could put him in extreme danger and after attempting to bond with the people on the island had not one but two people betray him in a matter of minutes

but was still willing to lay down his life to keep komaeda from dying

because even komaeda, to twogami, exists. he’s a person. he (had) a family, he has money, he has a home, he has a name. he doesn’t have to pretend to be anyone else just to make it through the day. to twogami, even someone as awful as komaeda had more worth than he could ever dream of possessing. hell, everyone ELSE at the party applies to that as well. if the murderer didn’t strike a target then god knows if he’d try it again later, someone else could be endangered, he knew full well what he was resigning himself to by grabbing the knife. he sacrificed himself, gave up his chance of ever “existing” so that all of the others could have a chance to pass their days in peace
